29 March 2009 / PERKINS ROUNDS OUT SOLID WEEKEND IN ALBERT PARK

Dodo Racing Team driver Jack Perkins has capped a solid weekend with another good drive in the Sprint Gas Manufacturer’s Challenge at the Formula 1 ING Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne today.

Perkins was on course for another top 20 finish until the final lap, where he was sent off-track and lost positions in the #11 Dodo Holden Commodore.

The second-generation racer came home in 25th position, enough to ensure he finished the event in 19th position overall on points across the three races held.

Craig Lowndes won today’s final non-championship race of the weekend ahead of Mark Winterbottom and Russell Ingall.

Round 2 of the 2009 V8 Supercar Championship Series will be staged in Hamilton, New Zealand on April 17-19.

WHAT JACK HAD TO SAY …

Jack Perkins - #11 Dodo Holden Commodore

“It was a bit of a shame that we didn’t finish a bit higher,” said Perkins.

“Something was amiss with the car. It might have broken a roll bar or something. We’ll have to check it out when we get back to the workshop.

“It was pretty hard to keep on the track there but we were soldiering on out there.

“The best thing is that the Dodo Commodore is straight and the boys will be able to concentrate on getting the car better for Hamilton, which is the one that counts.

“On the last lap there we had a spin and lost some spots. McConville was very close to the back of my car but the track was quite dirty as well.

“I’ll have to look at the tape before I do any finger pointing.”
